Fueling the Future: The Unrivalled Synergy of R&D with Collaboration in Innovation

In the ever-evolving landscape of today's global economy, the key to staying at the forefront of progress lies in the dynamic realms of research and development (R&D) and collaboration. As industries navigate through unprecedented challenges and rapid technological advancements, the significance of fostering innovation has become more pronounced than ever. Research and development, coupled with effective collaboration, stand as the twin pillars that propel organisations forward and pave the way for groundbreaking discoveries, novel solutions, and sustainable growth.

Innovation is not a solitary endeavour but a collective force that thrives on the interplay of diverse ideas, expertise, and resources. By integrating R&D practices into their core strategies, businesses and institutions can harness the power of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement. This intentional pursuit of knowledge and discovery not only ensures the adaptation to emerging trends but also positions entities as trailblazers in their respective fields.

Collaboration, on the other hand, acts as the catalyst that accelerates the innovation process. In a world interconnected by technology and networks, the ability to collaborate seamlessly across geographical, disciplinary, and organizational boundaries has become a linchpin for success. The convergence of minds with varied perspectives fosters an environment where creativity flourishes, leading to solutions that transcend conventional boundaries.

Innovation and collaboration have been at the heart of Yangi’s core since its inception. We understand the power of failure as a driver for progress, so we push boundaries by challenging everyday thinking. We also understand that combining capabilities will drive industry change, so we collaborate to innovate. However, to make an impact, one must act. And at Yangi, we do just that.

Here are some of the R&D projects that we are collaborating, innovating and acting on:

FunkyPack

The FunkyPack project, which stands for FUnctional and Novel biobased solutions for KeY barriers in PACKaging, aims to explore and develop three promising chemical solutions for high-performance dry formed fibre-based packaging. The goal of the project is to accelerate the scaling and refinement of solutions, ensuring their successful transformation into viable market-ready offerings.

PackSkin

The PackSkin project aims to develop 100% bio-based solutions with high-barrier protection as well as efficient and smooth barrier application methods for 3D-shaped fibre-based packaging. The goal of the project is to accelerate the replacement of rigid plastic packaging, at scale, all the while, developing a solution that has a lower climate impact, is recyclable, and follows circular design principles.

ZeroF

The ZeroF project funded by the EU and SERI, aims to develop safe and sustainable coating alternatives to replace PFAS compounds in food packaging and upholstery textile value chains. The goal of the project is to replace PFAS with non-toxic compounds and renewable feedstock while ensuring comparable performance and cost.

FutureForm

The FutureForm project aims to drive the development within the industry to achieve 100% bio-based packaging without losing product qualities that can satisfy the rising demand for circularity, recyclability, sustainability, resource efficiency, attractive design, formability and rigidity and 3D-Format. The goal of the collaboration is to further understand and develop new barrier chemistry and methods for the formation of fibre-based packaging related to dry forming and wet-moulding technologies.

F3: Films for Future

The Films For Future (abbreviation is F3) project aims to develop and up-scale lignocellulose-based film solutions and subsequently demonstrate its usability in food packing applications.  The goal of the project is to manufacture next-generation regenerated cellulose-based film-like materials that are transformed to package demonstrators and tested with project partners.
