Barrier performance for fiber-based packaging is often viewed as a coating challenge, but our experience suggests something different.

At Yangi, we believe that barrier performance does not begin with coating. It begins with fiber substrate.

We collaborate with a broad network of complementary technology providers and chemistry suppliers, including BIM and Motus, to explore how fiber architecture, material chemistry and barrier technologies work together to create high-performing fiber-based packaging solutions. These collaborations have reinforced our belief that superior barrier performance starts with the substrate and the findings have been encouraging. 

Evaluations demonstrated coating saving potential of up to 64–73%, compared to wet molding, while maintaining targeted barrier functionality.The result is new opportunities to achieve required functionality while reducing coating consumption. 

For packaging producers, this creates opportunities to improve material efficiency, reduce resource consumption, and optimize product economics while maintaining performance.
