Yangi Showcases New Foodservice Range at PACK EXPO, Putting Cellera Dry-Forming Capabilities on Display
Yangi is bringing a new foodservice application range to PACK EXPO International in Chicago, giving converters and brands a tangible view of what can be achieved with Cellera® — Yangi’s industrial dry-forming technology for producing dry-molded fiber packaging.
The range spans hot and cold beverage lids, plates, takeaway trays, protein and ready-meal trays, and a new deep-formed takeaway bowl, covering a broad spectrum of foodservice formats and performance requirements — from hot and cold use to moisture, water and grease resistance.
For converters, the opportunity goes beyond adding individual formats. By combining fast production cycles, controlled material use, and one platform capable of supporting multiple applications and market segments, Cellera is designed to help bring cost-competitive dry-molded fiber packaging to market at industrial scale — from high-volume QSR applications to ready-meal and protein tray formats.
The takeaway tray adds a different proof point: real-world use. Cellera-produced trays have already served customers through Yangi’s collaboration with Flavor Boss, taking the application beyond internal development and into live foodservice conditions.
At approximately 50 mm deep, Yangi’s new oval takeaway bowl represents one of the most demanding geometries in the range, while the coffee lid requires a precise undercut feature to achieve a secure fit and leak resistance. Together, they demonstrate two very different forming challenges — precision and depth — and show how one Cellera platform can support a broader foodservice portfolio across varied geometries and performance requirements.
“The strength of the portfolio is in the contrast,” said Carlo Semeraro, Head of Commercial Partnerships at Yangi. “A coffee lid demands precision around fit and sealing, while the takeaway bowl pushes depth and geometry. Seeing both produced on the same platform makes the forming flexibility of Cellera immediately tangible.”
Developed and optimized for Cellera, the applications give converters strong starting points that can be taken forward as presented or adapted to customer-specific requirements, reducing development effort while retaining flexibility around design and performance.
BUILT FOR COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION
The applications on display at PACK EXPO are not isolated concepts. They are built around a commercially available industrial platform designed to move from application development into full-scale production.
Cellera forms fiber without a water-based forming step and delivers production cycles as fast as 4 seconds. Powered by Yangi’s patented FiberIQ fiber-formation system, the platform precisely controls fiber distribution to support consistent product quality, structural performance, and efficient material use — helping converters translate application requirements into stable, repeatable industrial output.
With the first serial Cellera platform already commissioned at a European converter, Yangi has moved beyond development-scale production into industrial operation, giving converters a proven platform for commercial dry-molded fiber manufacturing.
“For U.S. converters, the opportunity is bigger than replacing a single packaging format,” said Anna Altner, Founder at Yangi. “It is about building flexible domestic capacity, broadening the product portfolio, and bringing cost-competitive dry-molded fiber formats to market as customer needs evolve. The applications we are bringing to PACK EXPO make that opportunity tangible.”
Visitors to PACK EXPO International, October 18–21 in Chicago, can see the full application range at Yangi Booth S-3422 in the South Building and meet with the Yangi team to discuss application development, production requirements, and how Cellera can support the expansion of dry-molded fiber capabilities in North America.
